ALiberation Week of Sunday 11/05/08

Another demo against the cull ban on the elephants was held on Tuesday 6th of May. We stood outside the South African embassy for around 1 hour and then headed to the top of Grafton St, as most people passing by the Embassy are office workers and had already signed the letters.

In Grafton St, the information table had great success, with people queuing to sign the letters. Most people are really fond of elephants and don’t want them killed. A woman came back to us after reading the leaflet,

quite upset.
She said she went on holidays to Kruger park last summer and complained that she saw only 2 elephants, so how could they be a threat to the park ? She said that if South Africa killed elephant families, she would never go back to South Africa.

So South Africa, beware! The Irish people are watching you!

Watch the pictures from the demo.

On Friday, we stood outside of the Norwegian Embassy to hand out leaflets and denounce Norway’s appalling attitude regarding the giants of the oceans.

Norway resumed commercial whaling last month with a self appointed quota to kill 1052 minke whales this season. They have already killed 5 whales off North-Western Norway since the beginning of the season.
Please send an email to the Norwegian Embassy to voice

your disgust at this practice, or alternatively, download leaflets from our gallery and hand them out. Please also spread the word.

Two activists held an info table outside Barnados Furriers and collected many, many letters. We stayed there from 1pm to 4pm. Sometimes, argumentative people claim that our shoes are made of leather. Animal Rights activists do not wear leather, they wear vegan shoes. Stickers advertising vegan shoes are available on the table.
We then protested outside the shop until closing time. The best moment of the demo was when a

mimer told Barnados what he thought of their shop.
Many people gathered around us and enjoyed his performance!

Shelbourne park was the next stop, with hundreds of leaflets handed out.

Download the vegan shoes stickers (pdf version).
