How much is the life of a pony?

Injured Pony sold for €8 at Smithfield, Dublin

Irish society has long been known as a disposable society. If “it” doesn’t have a use then “it” is dumped.

The so-called “it” in question of this story is a 15 year old pony. The pony was “badly injured” and “in severe pain” according to the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) when he was brought to Smithfield market, where he was sold to an 11 year old boy for €8 on Sunday 6th Sept.
The boy then brought the pony to the local gardai station where the pony was collected by the DSPCA.

The DSPCA say the pony is awaiting “further investigation….to determine if the animal can be saved”. The Metro added that “If treatment is

judged too lengthy and painful, vets will destroy the pony.” “It is appalling to think that someone allowed her to get into that condition and then offloaded her for less that the price of a pack of cigarettes” said DSPCA inspector Liam Kinsella.

The Minister can decide to grant or refuse to issue licences at his discretion as prescribed in the law.
The Minister can also include the outlawing of fur factory farms in the forthcoming Animal Health and Welfare Bill or put forward separate legislation for the same purpose.
