The Greyhound Abuse Awards!!

On Sun the 23rd of Mar, Activists traveled to Killashee House Hotel in Naas, Co Kildare to raise awareness about the countless animals killed for Greyhound racing.

Most of the dogs that are even killed in the UK are bred in Ireland. Then add the greyhounds that are killed here. And then add the dogs that are killed in the dog pounds in Ireland whenever the few lucky greyhounds that are rehomed take a place that the dogs in the pounds may have taken.

The Greyhound Abuse Awards is a collection of people who do outstanding work in killing and abusing greyhounds.

Without these self interested, ruthless people who are dedicated to finding pleasure in the suffering of greyhounds, there would be many greyhounds who may never find that special river to drown in, that tree to hang from or they would go through life with both ears.
How would these dogs ever cope?
So the Greyhound Abuse Awards notes the achievements of

those callous people who help this industry remain ruthless and uncaring.

Activists held banners, posters and handed out leaflets from 5.30pm till 8pm outside the Killashee House Hotel. The amount of support from the passing public was amazing and greatly appreciated.

School day out at Shelbourne Park??

It’s amazing, that there is so much written on the national obsessions of drink and gambling. There is so many ideas and rehab programs on how to deal with both problems. It’s amazing, not because it is a futile exercise but because nobody ever mentions a core of the problem if the government is giving the problem grants.

Welcome to Shelbourne Greyhound Track, the home of the underage gambling, free access to late night bars for minors and of course the mandatory greyhound slaughter (40,000 killed each year between Ireland and England).
Activists handed out leaflets to young and old and extremely young who entered Shelbourne Park between 7pm and 8pm on Sat 22nd Mar 2008. Some children were carried in and some were still in a pram. Shelbourne Park is an equal opportunity abuser. They wish to mess up everyone’s life.

    Furriers, A Greedy Business

Barnardo’s Furriers is like any other furriers. They are only interested in profiting from animal cruelty. Barnardo’s Furriers will see themselves as filthy rich but everyone else will see them as just plain greedy.

Barnardo’s Furriers own No. 108 Grafton St, all 5 floors, and could easily lease it out for a quarter of a million euro. And that’s a conservative estimate or they could set up an ethical business. But the owners of Barnardo’s Furriers trade in blood, death and suffering. And the 70 minks or 125 chinchillas that make up one fur coat will have their life stolen for their profit.

Why else would they do it?

Activists campaigned outside of Barnardo’s Furriers on Sat, 22nd March between 1pm to 3.30pm and from 5pm till their doors shut (Always a good thing).

Donegal, Fur Farm Capital of Ireland!!

Donegal can be the county to stop fur farms throughout Ireland.

Fur Free Campaigners in Donegal Town will demand an end to Irish fur farms this Saturday. With Leaflets, Posters, Banners, and a display representing the fur trade, activists will highlight the horrible suffering found on fur farms.

The fur industry is one of the cruelest industries in the world. Unfortunately, Minister Mary Coughlan has allowed County Donegal to become known as the fur farm capital of Ireland.

Donegal has this reputation for three reasons:

Miserable day for Shop of Misery

On a miserable day, activists braved the horrible weather to educate the public about something that involves infinitely more misery and horror than bad weather; the lives and deaths of animals killed for fur! The activists gathered outside of Barnardo’s Furriers from 5pm till the shop closed.

Barnardo’s Furriers do not and will never care about cruelty to animals. They know what goes on in the fur trade but are happy to take their cut from animals and contribute their cuts to animals. Misery and Horror and Greed are what Barnardo’s Furriers is all about.

Association of hunt Saboteurs, Demo Report 29/02/08

What do hunters do when they don’t hunt?

Meeting in balls is part of a hunter’s ritual to celebrate killing innocent foxes and brag about it.

Of course, we don’t doubt for a minute that chasing terrified foxes and their cubs does require a huge amount of courage, and a lot of risks too. A hunter could fall on the ground and get savagely devoured by a baby fox!

On Friday 29of March, the “Killing Kildares” as they like to call themselves had a ball in the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge, County Kildare.
Organised by the hunt saboteurs Association, a protest took place outside the hotel, with anti hunt activists holding banners to remind the hunters that they were not impressed by their bloody performances.

A lot of cars passing by beeped to show their support, and surprisingly, not many people attended the ball, compared to last year.

    Barnado’s Little Shop
    Of Horrors

Ah Barnardo’s….. We still have received no invitation for a cup of tea.
No invitation for a nice chat about how this shop likes to have animals killed.
No invitation to discuss how Barnardo’s Furriers promotes animal cruelty or how they actively engage in pure brutality.

Anybody who likes earning money off the backs of suffering animals is sick and twisted. Have you met Barnardo’s Furriers?

Activists educated the passing public about Barnardo’s little shop of horror on 108 Grafton St between 5pm to 5.30pm(approx). For 3 weeks in a row, the Gardai have arrived to peaceful public awareness’s. Unfortunately, this is simply their job, they have little choice but to go where they are directed.

But in years to come people are going to wonder (as they are now) how our government allowed this cruelty to exist.

    Sick Puppies Pomped with Drugs

There’s an expression; “he is one sick puppy“. But don’t say it around Shelbourne park.
There are a lot of people who hang around here on race nights that would take that “sick puppy” and race him. True they might have to pump the “sick puppy” with drugs first but you won’t find this is a problem.

If the “sick puppy” isn’t quite fast enough then that puppy may get sicker with the help of some acid or a knife. Or they may be sent off to somewhere like Spain where this “sick puppy” will be run into the ground.

Finally the greyhound tracks will need to get rid of these “sick puppies” for good to free up space for the next batch of puppies;40,000 each year between the UK and Ireland.

What river do they go to? What gun do they stare down? What tree are they hanging from?

The weird thing is, with a good home these “sick puppies” grow into healthy dogs.

Activists educated the crowds who encourage underage betting and underage drinking to these facts between 7pm and 8pm on each of the last 2 Saturdays.

    2 weeks of Fur Petitioning, Sat 01 & 08March 08

Sign the Petition to Close Irish Fur Farms!

Over the last 2 weekends, between 1pm and 3.30pm each Saturday at the Molly Molone Statue, activists have collected petitions and educated the public about the horrors of life on Ireland’s Fur Farms. As usual, we got a great reaction. The large majority of people do not want fur farms in Ireland, they do not want fur in Ireland unless the fur is still on the animal it is supposed to be on.

Last Saturday, we held a fur information table here too and had activists on Castle Market St, outside of Rohu which also sells fur and is also owned by the same people who own Barnardo’s Furriers.

    Illegal mobs hunt in
    UK parks.

When hunters in England are not breaking laws during the day they do it during the night.

In Stadt Moers Park, Merseyside, Liverpool, England, wild animals, tame animals and humans are all fair game.

With rifles and knives in tow, gangs of cowards chase down defenseless animals with packs of dogs.

Reports of dead cats, attempting to shake squirrels from trees for dogs below to rip apart, depletion of fox numbers, dogs mutilated and people threatened with weapons and even a councilor beaten unconscious.

There has always been a link between abuse to non human animals and human animals, this is just another reminder.
The Lib Dem ward member for the St Gabriel’s area of Huyton, Mike Currie, 58, said he was attacked while walking through Stadt

“I went out with my 11-year-old son to feed the foxes when I saw a lad who looked like he was up to no good. I was very polite and said ‘I hope you’re not here to hunt foxes’.
