Carted Deer Hunting

Carted Deer Hunting,
Know the Facts

For those who are not familiar with the concept of Carted stag hunting, it consists of breeding Red deer in order to release them and hunt them. After the hunt, they are brought back till the next hunt.

Carted deer hunting is seen as a “sport” in the same way as Fox hunting, except that the deer are not wild and “supposed” to be brought back to the herd.

Its only aim is to provide entertainment to hunters, all members of the Ward Union Hunt.

when and where does it take place?

This “sport” takes place between November and Mid-March in county Meath and North County Dublin. Every Thursday and Friday, two deer are taken from a herd privately owned by the Ward Union hunt and situated in Dunshauglin, County Meath and transported by cart to a hunt location.

Novartis & AstraZeneca
Again on the Spotlight

ALiberation held 2 demos in Dublin last Friday the 22nd of February at Novartis on Hardcourt Rd and AstraZeneca off Nassau St.
We were at Novartis at lunch time to remind the employees of Novartis what disgusting company they deal with. Then you know that already, don’t you Novartis? HLS’s animal tests have helped you kill people around the world with your drugs that cause adverse side-effects and deaths. It about time are started doing ‘real’ science and stop torturing animals. Just google ‘Novartis’ & ’side effects’ and read for yourselves!

Next stop was AstraZeneca where we got a good response from the public who took leaflets about HLS.
People were disgusted about HLS and remembered seeing

the undercover footage of

beagles being punched by workers. Never forget AstraZeneca, HLS is the most exposed animal lab in the world and the next exposes might be about your dealings with them. Their secrets become are secret, no lie can last forever!

After we ran out of leaflets because of the good response, we headed off.
We will be back until you dump HLS!

    Greyhound Racing Demo Report 23Feb08

A Dog’s Life in Shelbourne Park is a Short Life

An hour by activists outside of Shelbourne Greyhound Racing Track helped educate the public about the disgraceful government funded underage attending animal abuse.

Not to mention minors being around alcohol and gambling late at night, do you know anywhere else that allows this outside of race tracks?

When a dog has reached the age of 3 years, he is too old and often his ears will be hacked or burned off to remove the tattoo dye that identifies his owners.

This industry’s motto could very well be “If a dog is too slow, his ears have to go, If a dog is not young, by his neck he’ll be strung.”

Between the UK and Ireland 40,000 dogs go somewhere each year to be killed; where do they go? Why are more people not asking questions? This is a government funded industry, why is there so little accountability of tax payers money?

Activists asked these questions between 7pm and 8pm on Saturday the 23rd of February.

    Sign of the Times,
Sign on the “No Fur” Petition!!

More people signed their names to a petition to end fur farming in Ireland last Saturday between 1pm and 3.30pm. An already large petition list grew outside of the fur shop Barnardo’s Furriers.

The Irish Public does not like fur farms. And the Irish Public does not like Barnardo’s Furriers.

After a break the demo carried on from 5pm till the shop closed. People are always happy to see activists outside of this shop and are always quick to tell activists what they think of this shop.

A lot of what they say is X rated. This is a shop that fills people with disgust due to the cruelty that they inflict on animals for a few greasy coins.

The owners, employees and customers of this shop are either very naïve about what the fur industry entails or just do not care what cruelty is handed out for their own gain.
It is likely to be the second of these scenarios for the owners and employees and realistically also for the customers.

It is very easy to think that the owners of Barnardo’s Furriers are stupid, but just because they have not displayed signs of intelligence an open mind should be kept to see the warped focused greed that delivers a routine suffering to countless animals that this blood thirsty shop yearns.

Most people see this however and know exactly what goes on in this industry.
Sooner or later so too will Barnardo’s Furriers and the fur farmers.

    Circus Courtneys Goes to Court

Posted in Blood Sports / Entertainment by ALib on the February 20th, 2008

Court for Courtneys. Circus hit for Cash

Activists were asked to testify in court on Wednesday last as part of a claim against the Courtney owned Vegas Circus (Courtneys also includes circuses called Sydney, American 2 Ring, Royal Russian, Ozz, Dreamland, New York etc, when controversy occurs they tend to change their name). All the Courtney Circus’s are rightly criticized for their dismal animal cruelty but also their appalling health and safety to the public.

The claimant, Derek Dillon, brought an action against the circus due to the circus’s poor health and safety.

According to newspaper reports, Mr Dillon claimed “that one of the elephants had struck him on his forehead with one of its tusks when he attended the circus grounds at Blunden Drive, Coolock, Dublin, in July 2006.
He suffered a laceration to his forehead which had to be stitched.” “he had been knocked to the ground by the elephant and left shocked and shaken up. He had been left with a permanent scar on his forehead.”

With the evidence that this circus had stacked against them, it is no surprise that they settled outside of court.

It’s as regular as clockwork for Courtney’s to put profit before the public and cash before compassion.

    This is not the first time that Circus Vegas (just circus Vegas, for the other circus’s see links below) has been accused of poor safety to the public; a long list includes being convicted of reckless endangerment that led to the deaths of two people outside of Galway when a trailer came loose from a circus lorry;

a lorry trailer caught fire with elephants inside; deserting elephants to roam through ship yards; attacks on activists etc.
The list goes on, please see the links below.

    Chinese Embassy, Demo Report 13/02/08

Posted in ALiberation Demo Reports by ALib on the February 13th, 2008

    Chinese Fur!
    Gold for Exploitation?

As part of an international day of protest across the globe,

activists demonstrated outside the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China between 2.30pm and 4pm.

If figures for rabbits are removed, China now trails the world for compassion in regards to the fur industry. More lives of minks, cats, foxes and dogs are wasted in China for this useless “trade of dysfunction” than any other nation.

A worldwide day of action outside of the Chinese embassies of the world helped send a clear message of how the world regards fur.
With the Olympic Games in Bejing

approaching, China will hope to send a positive image of itself to the world.
Please send a letter to the Chinese embassy to put as much pressure as possible on China and this cruel trade to change both their ways.

Unfortunately the embassy does not seem to have an email account so either letters/faxes or phone calls will need to be sent or made.

Please be polite. A sample letter is attached, as a reference to the letter we’ve sent to the embassador.

    ALiberation’s Weekend of Sunday 10/02/2008

Posted in ALiberation Demo Reports by ALib on the February 12th, 2008

    ALiberation’s Weekend of Sunday 10/02/2008

Over 170,000 animals are being killed on Irish Fur Farms each year. They are killed after enduring a terrible life. Activists were outside of Barnardo’s Furriers on Saturday 9th February between 1pm and 3.45pm and again from 5pm till the shop closed.
The Activists educated the public by leaflets and collected petitions to outlaw fur farming in Ireland. What did Barnardo’s Furriers do?? They called the Garda to another peaceful protest. And the Garda came. Do Barnardo’s have the Garda station on speed dial? Wasting public money is expected from a shop that sells cruelty and suffering.

A shop that trades a non essential item like fur has no morals and will always feel that somebody else should pay for their own extravagance. Minks lives, Foxes pain, any fur bearing animals sanity and any taxpayer’s money are all the same to Barnardo’s Furriers; they have no right to any of them so they don’t mind exploiting and wasting them.

    Barnado’s Furriers, Protest 02/02/08

Posted in ALiberation Demo Reports by Ed on the February 8th, 2008

How to be a waste to Society:
    4 Easy Steps!

First; open a fur shop like Barnardo’s which will cause unimaginable suffering to countless animals and help destroy the environment by supporting fur farms and trapping.

Second; speak out for the fur industry (This should be done even if it means you sound stupid; if you’re going to wear fur you will look stupid so might as well sound stupid also).

Third; annoy anyone with an ounce of compassion (This may be achieved by the previous steps and also by displaying samples of tortured animals in your shop window).

Fourth; when protestors appear in front of your shop and they will, then please please waste taxpayer’s money by calling the Gardai to peaceful protests (This is a handy way of really annoying people. It means that people who

pay tax are now also paying for your animal abuse).

Activists were outside of Barnardo’s Furriers on Saturday last between 1-3.30pm and again from 5pm.

    SHAC Demo 01 Feb 08

Posted in ALiberation Demo Reports by Glô! on the February 3rd, 2008

    Receptionists, Run Faster!

We advised the receptionist from Novartis to wear some comfy runners so he can lock the door faster each time he sees us arrive. We wouldn’t like him to fall and damage his shiny shoes! Of course, HLS accomplices don’t feel pain, they prefer to inflict it on defenseless animals.

We stood outside Novartis to let the public know that drug pushers are like… the shiny shoes of the receptionist. They look clean on the outside but on the inside, they hurt like hell.
They hurt human and non human animals for profit. They have no ethics whatsoever, no desire to cure diseases, a certain fondness for torture and death and an obsession with money and power.

Astra Zeneca was second on the list. A lot of passers by took leaflets and were horrified to hear what HLS does inside its building.

But the one who was most impressed by the demo was a dog who got his head out of the car

window to stare for a good while at the banner. That was a surreal scene which brightened our day!
